The Bridge Between Them Is Me

August 13, 2026

An Experiment in Resonance.

I spend four days at my brother-in-law's beach condo at the Jersey shore. Before that, three nights in Manhattan with Daniel, a pre-celebration of my 75th birthday and our 40th anniversary.

I have known my brother-in-law for more than 40 years.

He is generous. Loving. Financially savvy. He values old friendships, family, education, and money. He solves problems well. I respect these qualities. He also pokes fun rather than judge.

For much of my life, I compare my Self to him.

His knowledge seems bigger than mine. His life experience seems stronger. His way of thinking can make me doubt my own.

Something shifts this weekend.

He talks about the stock market and the money he has made. I want to talk about Bitcoin. I have an idea that it could become money for humans and AI. I have no proof. I am following my own thinking.

We reach for the words and miss each other completely.

And yet we find something we both know:

We want the best for our families.

He trusts what is concrete. Science makes sense to him. You get sick. You see a doctor.

I explore living physics. Energy. Energy medicine. What becomes possible when I listen beyond what can already be proven?

Two ways of knowing.

Side by side.

I feel his conviction.

He is certain he knows.

That certainty is powerful.

I know this feeling. It is old. I have felt it in other important conversations. Someone else's certainty enters the room, and something in me gets smaller.

This time, I get quiet enough to notice.

I listen more deeply.

I let the old insecurity rise.

And I notice something has changed since I last saw him.

A paradigm shift.

I live inside a different kind of time now.

Eternal time.

Time without a clock.

That shift has changed my relationship to knowledge.

Knowledge accumulates.

Wisdom is lived.

I feel the difference.

I also notice a new relationship with my energy. I no longer feel compelled to spend it proving, explaining, comparing, or convincing.

I conserve it.

I spend it on being present.

And to my surprise, I discover a much wider and deeper range of experience in my Self than I had previously given my Self credit for.

I also sense a limit between us. Some of what is changing in me does not easily enter our conversation.

I sit with that.

At one point, I imagine what he might say about my website.

I hear him:

Get testimonials.

Get endorsements.

Show people that others trust you.

He never says this.

We never have the conversation.

But I hear the voice anyway.

And I recognize it.

It is the same conviction I feel on the beach.

The old belief that someone else's certainty is more trustworthy than my own.

He may even be right about testimonials. They are a form of social proof. People often trust what others have already experienced.

But that is not the question I am really asking.

The question is:

Can I build from signal rather than noise?

Can I let the work itself speak?

My creativity is mine.

I welcome feedback. I welcome rigor. I welcome another perspective.

But I am learning to tell the difference between discernment and surrendering my own knowing.

My website is public.

My work is real.

People have paid me for my work.

Now I am exploring something different: attracting people through an accurate representation of my Self rather than through persuasion, hype, or noise.

That is a different experiment.

It asks me to trust resonance.

To trust that the right people may recognize something in what I have created because it speaks to something they already know is true for them.

And this brings me to another distinction I am beginning to see.

The circle and the one-to-one work are not in conflict.

The circle is free.

It is open.

People enter without an agenda. They are witnessed. They are received.

One-to-one work is different.

Someone brings a specific challenge. They ask for my full attention. They pay for the relationship and the work we create together.

Both are mine to hold.

The bridge between them is me.

My capacity to create.

To language.

To listen.

To demonstrate what I have lived.

This is the place I am building from.

Not proof.

Not persuasion.

Not certainty.

Resonance.

I meet my Self in the place of discontent.

I trust, at a deeper level, that I already carry something essential for navigating my own challenges.

And perhaps that is what makes my work useful to another person.

Not that I have all the answers.

But that I have walked some of the road.

I know what it feels like when the road gets shorter because someone has already traveled it.

What I carry feels rare.

I know that.

The question I am living now is whether knowing that is enough to create the resonance I am seeking.

Enough to attract the people who recognize themselves in the signal.

Enough to let the right relationships find me.

I don't need to answer that today.

I can let the question remain alive.

I can take my time.

Eternal time.

And listen.
